Hacked it up in a few hours. It has to wait a couple minutes at first... may be buggy... who knows...

Intertesting. I always wanted to make a x-platform RSS reader. Due to a lack of a good browser window back then I postponed it. I know there is wxMozilla but it has bugs still ..

I use Bloglines now. Which is ok, but I rather have a seperate app..

Code: Select all

// 0.3
// * Super speed improvement
// * Got rid of threading issues
I am waiting for the "HyperSpeed" version ;-)

Just to ask, what exactly does it do? It parses the XML file and puts it in a list ctrl ? How does it handle ATOM feeds and RSS2.0 and RSS1.2 ? That also put me off, those darn standards.

Heh right now its basicallyfaster than my 3rd-party RSS reader. The real slowdowns were the two wxString::Replace... which is REALLY slow for some reason - so I did my own hacked up "REPLACE" :).

Yep - and it displays the contents of a message in the htmlwindow (or even better an iehtmlwin if you want).

It doesn't - the parsing class isnt called wxDumbRSS for nothing :).

Sweet! Maybe it is a nice idea to hack up a RSS reader which can compete with modern RSS readers. You already seem to be half way now :-)

I wonder if that fits ideas included in samples/html. Perhaps such simple thing could be included in samples or demos. Worth to discuss on wx-dev probably.

Using a (obscure?) 3rd party library unfortunately

Can't think of much more now... 0.5 has preferences... feed saving... I guess I'll wait until the new rss for this forum comes out.

Updated the screenshot too
