Server traffic?

Post by nkwinder »

ok this is really annoying...

almost every time i visit forum, i have to wait for very long for any link to load. Where ever i click...

sometimes, if i'm lucky, things will load fast, but most of the time... :(

is there a problem with the server?

I don't visit the forum freqeuently enough to notice this every day. Although I sometimes see a lag in loading the response time overall seems ok. I do visit it daily but only once every other time there is something the server is choking on. If this persists I will ask Jason what it might be, or if there is a backup job or something else running at scheduled times

Hi!
Jorg, please contact Jason.

I noticed this as well, but it seems to me like it only happens around midday here in germany. The problem is that it happens almost every day now and persists for more than 2-3 hours (on some days even longer). I'm really not sure what might cause this. The server responds, but it does take a lot of time to complete the request (sometimes 5 minutes or so). Maybe this has something to do with our database, but I can't see any problems with that when checking it...

Yes, it was extremely slow for me last night (New Zealand time). I was on (or trying to be on) for a few hours, and pages were taking 15 minutes+ to come up. I would go to a page - and then go do something else, and check back every now and then to see if it had come up.

Eventually I gave up.

Just adding that I have also seen this problem at various times the last few days.

I will make a mental note to contact him tonight. I noticed it too I am sorry that I didn't respond sooner, I was rather busy. I wanted to do something about it last night but ended up with a headache (didn't knew job interviews were so damn hard when you're the one interviewing) ...

Anyway I will contact jason some later today.

Weird!

After I posted my last entry I didn't experience this problem for about a month now. But yesterday it was there again: Slow load times but no timeouts. Took me ages to load the index page (2-4 minutes or so). I wonder why I don't get a timeout...

Ok, I have looked on the Plesk service panel, temporarily disabled the backup job to see if that will remove the lags, and I also noticed that the forum uses 2,5 Gb of the max 1 Gb space so I contacted Jason Sheets about this, and if this might cause any problems. I asked him if there is any reason why the forum is so unresponsive.

The bandwidth reserved per month is 12Gb and we are now around 3Gb so that should not be the bottleneck.

I will let you know how it goes!

Hi everyone, I have been tracking this issue, and have made a few changes that hopefully have resolved it.

Currently the site seems to be snappy and hopefully it stays that way :)
