Post by Trikko »

I see on wxWidgets ftp a folder named 2.8.1 (with files and changelog) dated 9 jan 2007.Why that wasn't annunced?

Take a look:

Strange!! They have posted a changelog, too. Isn't it a sign of final release?

When I downloaded latest snapshot from http://biolpc22.york.ac.uk/pub/CVS_HEAD/ I got wx 2.9.0 branch's code.

Exact! And all files date is freezed... And usually they make folders only when new version is released.

It seems that it has been released. Some wx Gurus can confirm this. :)

Anyway I've downloaded wx 2.8.1 and 2.9.0. Tomorrow morning I'll start to play with them. ;)

It's time to sleep.... :D

It seems the wx dev team has forgot to update the website. ;)

Allow me to put an end to the confusion. 2.8.1 was in fact silently released. There were some outstanding bugs/issues that hadn't been resolved when the release was spun, so no official announcement was made, and it wasn't uploaded to SF.net servers. So for now it just sits alongside other development releases.

See this wx-dev thread for further details.

However, 2.8.2 is scheduled to come out soon, and will definitely be announced.
