wxFrame inside a wxPanel

Post by zulya » Mon Apr 10, 2006 3:28 pm

This might be a weird question, but Is it possible to put the wxFrame inside of a wxPanel? Or does wxFrame have to be a stand-alone window?

The wxFrame is derived from wxTopLevelWindow. I really doubt that you can put a frame on a panel... It corresponds to the main frame of your application.

I'm not exactly sure why you would want to. The two are essentially the same (at least in this context - obviously not in the top level context).

Most users of the forum will consider your request strange, but there are valid reasons to do this. One example of this in Microsoft's visual GUI design software.

A few of us have been struggling with acheiving this. So far we have found a couple of solutions. Mine is a frame derived from wxFrame which is a windows only solution. Death ghast has another solution which involves using a control which fakes it by drawing the frame on another control.

You can read more here. http://forums.wxwidgets.org/viewtopic.php?t=7408

Hope this helps.
