I love the site! My collegues and I always deal with external code like that. I have seen code which really made me cry .. from laughing or crying even. Stuff like;

unsigned char buffer[4000 + 5000];  // I needed to add 5000 or else it crashes

NOBODY in their sane mind would just do that in production code. Everybody would attempt to find out WHY it crashes and not simply enlarge a buffer.

We ended up redesigning the code, what he did in a year we did in 2 weeks. A real WTF ...
