wxWidgets could really use a help as good as this

wxWidgets could really use a help as good as this

Post by Jorg »

For a good overview screen:

http://www.delphibasics.co.uk/index.html

For every function a generic layout like this:

http://www.delphibasics.co.uk/RTL.asp?N ... ompareText

If the wxWidgets team could (ab)use the Wiki for this, people could help improving the help. IMHO the LaTex help is simply not cutting it.

Not to step on anyone's toes, I simply wanted to share it..

Neato - but you need like a 1600x1600 resolution to view that without side scrolling

IMHO the wx site DESPERATELY needs a new layout - the current one is, i must admit, cluttered and Frames arent friendly to some browsers (i personally loathe frames), and the documentation doesn't have some handy functions (like search, which i managed to compensate (slightly) with my firefox search bar thingo)

but ohwell, no one has the time to do that...

Yeah I just wanted to say that there was a thread about a new site. And someone already made a mock-up with a more "community feeling" where people could post news, releases and would be able to search through the site more easily.

Wasn't there an ongoing conversion of the documentation to XML format? This being the case, a lot of flexibility is to be gained, and one can then easily change the web documentation layout.

That delphi help site is pretty sweet. I like how it shows example code for command. That would help alot for a begining wxWidgets programmer like myself.

This proposal has been turned down many times (including ones by me) on wx-dev, so I don't expect this to happen in my lifetime, unfortunately.
