Hi,

slowly I've experienced regularly the wxForum server to answer requests very slowly. Did anyone else notice this too, or is it just me?

Same here. I think it started to get really bad 2-3 weeks ago.

I emailed Jason to see if there is a bandwidth or performance problem that we are hitting somehow..

Hi!

Apart from what Jason has to say, maybe the DB is causing the trouble. Jorg: Did you try updating the forum code btw. ?

I experience this as well, but I noticed that it seem to be a "time" problem. In the morning and (mostly) in the evening it works smooth and fast, but around midday it gets slower and slower. I remember the last time when we had an issue like this, we were hit by googlebot. I thought I disabled indexing the whole forum, but maybe we should doublecheck. Anyway, I don't think that this would be a problem for 3 weeks....

Jorg: Please share Jasons answer with us, maybe in the mods hideout.
OS: OpenSuSE, Ubuntu, Win XP Pro
wx: svn
Compiler: gcc 4.5.1, VC 2008, eVC 4

When I was explaining it to Jason, and posting on the forum I also noticed that one minute it was like super fast, and the next post it was super slow. Which seems to be something like a bottleneck on the database. Maybe it can only handle like 20 connections at the time and the old ones are not properly released.

I have not updated the forum code I would like to go to phpBB 3.0 but I know that will be a timely task to do as the DB needs to be upgraded, wxAwards system re-implemented and what not.

Maybe it is as simple as upping the number of DB connections... I will await Jason's email.

How is the speed problem now? It seems to be very responsive again ...

I have not received any response from Jason yet but if he fixed it, that is also fine by me

No, it's still happening :( . It's intermittent, though, which is different from previous slowdowns.

Yeah. It's maybe a little better, but I still get slowdowns from time to time
