Attachments

Post by Auria »

Hi,

I recently saw many posts of people saying they failed to submit attachements along their posts (screenshots, usually).

I just tried myself, and get this : "Sorry, but the maximum filesize for all Attachments is reached. Please contact the Board Administrator if you have questions."

The attachement I was trying was very small (like 64 KB)

Thanks

Hi!
Indeed, this is correct.

When setting this up, I set some defaults. The current settings are:
Max. filesize 512 Kb
Max. filesize in private message folder 256 Kb
Max. number of attachments 3
Max. number of attachments in PMs 1
Quota 50 Mb

The quota limit is reached by now (there are 52 Mb of attachments, not sure if admins are restricted by this limit).

I can either raise the limit, or disable it. What should I do?

I noticed that there are some attachments flying around that are not assigned to posts. @Jorg -> "Shadow attachments". Should we delete these?

Not sure if it's possible, maybe when the quota is reached, instead of forbidding adding new attachements, maybe older ones could be deleted instead? Attachements are not that useful if you can only post for a while

Hi!
Good idea, but unfortunately this is not possible.
Maybe we should delete the quota altogether, as having the upload size limited should prevent us from being used as a "share-base"... Anyway, I'll wait for what the others have to say.

Hi,

Sorry for not replying sooner, I would vote for deletion of the quota. Right now we do not occuppy much space on the server, but we will have to have some discipline to check once in a while if the server is running out of diskspace.

Hi!
Ok, I'll remove the limit now. Please check if it works.
