Salut,

Hi!
Forgive me for writing in english in this forum, I'll attach a googlish translation at the end. Although I'm capable of reading and (partly :)) understanding french, I find it hard to use it when posting.

I believe neither Jorg nor me knew about this french forum. Seeing that the french subforum here only has two postings, I'll create a new thread in the general forum issues section to discuss whether we should close it down here again and instead link to your forum.
Although I dislike the idea of splitting the community, I see your point. I guess the community over there already has grown, so there might be no use in having a subsection here. There was a chinese forum once, but I think it is dead, so having chinese and russian sections still is a way to go.

The main reasons for creating the forums were that
1. there was a demand for this for quite some time
2. we don't want to exclude people just because they are not fluent in english.

So, if you want to, feel free to discuss the closure of this subsection and linking to the other forum. I'd be happy to do so and add a link in the top nav bar of the forum.

---- Translation: Google did this, be warned :) ---
---- If this text is offensive -> don't blame it on me ---

Salut!

I will write here too. Can the original author of the post please discuss this in English (for one time) ? ;-)

I can't read much French, but I wanted to be clear on what the issue here. Since this message is more directed to the owner(s) of this forum (upCASE and me) we should discuss best options.

This is what google translate gave me (please correct me if I am wrong), but it looks pretty well translated:
Hello everyone.

So like that, the official forum will begin to make competition (unfair, given its dominant position) to the poor french small sites who try to enter this field?

Truce joke: I come to realize the establishment of this section of the forum (which apparently is there for nearly a month, if I think the topic of "rules of the forum").

And I wanted to propose wxDev.fr (replacing fire wxdevelop.com) as a unique forum dedicated to francophone wxWidgets, I think I can repack my business and go elsewhere if I am.

In short, never mind Sad

A big bravo anyway for the establishment of this patch of france on this forum.
This is my response. We didn't intended to compete with smaller french (or any other specific language) sites. I only responded to the demand that people wanted to have a native language forum. As we have 8000+ members we noticed in the past people use babelfish or just type their question in their native language because they really can't do it in English.

That and the positive feedback that native language forums were a valuable addition, made me create the sub-forums. It is in no way meant as "pestering" or suppressing the smaller communities ;-) even more so I looked for a french forum but if you type in "french wxWidgets" there is no forum in the top 40, or how much hits later in google so I thought there simply wasn't any.

So there are possibilities here.
1) We link to you guys, but seeing there is almost no visibility I doubt that will help
2) We adjust this sub forum to your needs and make you a moderator here and keep the community together

Mind you, this forum is the official wxWidgets forum, as listed on the Wiki, wxportals and even in various software products as a help site.

If you really want to be independent, that is really fine with me, no problem. But then you really need to do something about the visibility of the site you guys have, I would suggest posting it to wx-users / wx-dev and insert better meta tags.

Anyways, I am open to suggestions, I just wanted to make my point clear ;-)
