Install monitoring program?

Post by daddydave »

Can anyone recommend a program for Windows 2000 and XP that monitors registry and files so that you can install a program and completely roll it back without having to trust the uninstaller to do so? Like the old PC Magazine InCtrl[2345]? utility?

Norton GoBack
a lots of other softwares.
Windows also provide a system restore facility, also you can take backup of registry yourself and manage the permissions, so that it will ask you or deny changes. Spybot - Search & Destroy also allows user to see and deny or approve any registry changes.

Thanks, Priyank!

I still like Windows 2000, very stable, so no system restore...

Yes GoBack would work...

I found ZSoft Uninstaller has the ability to take a snapshot of registry and files and then tell you what changed --
although you'd never know it from the program description. Looks pretty nice.

I think most of these do not monitor ALL files (ZSoft went too fast, I think), which would be ideal I think, but perhaps not necessary.
