Toolbars won't paint while they are being dragged

If you are using wxDev-C++ for your wxWidgets design, please ask your questions here instead of in IDE Related.

Toolbars won't paint while they are being dragged

Post by Will Pittenger » Sun Dec 04, 2011 5:13 am

I just installed wxDev-C++ for the first time. I noticed the toolbars don't paint while being moved. That will confuse new users of the program into thinking the toolbar is being shrunk when they are attempting to move the toolbar to the right. This also has me thinking that my wxWidgets programs would be affected. I am using build 7.4.0.86 on Windows Vista 64-bit SP2.

I have not noticed such a problem in a my installation of wxDevC++ (on WinXP). If this is really a problem of wxDevC++, it should not affect your programs designed via this IDE/RAD. WxDevC++ has been designed in Delphi without wxWidgets components. Yoy should start to use wxDevC++, it is a very useful IDE/RAD.

I second that. (also on WinXP).
If, 6 months later, you can't understand what you coded, it was too complicated to begin with.

Well, I have given up on wxWidgets for the time being. And I never understood why something to develop wxWidgets is written in Delphi. #-o

And I don't understand why you think it should make any difference.

According to a book „Programing with wxDevC++” (by Sof.T., 2006) wxDevC++ has been developed form IDE DevC++ (wxDev = IDE Dev + wxWidgets + RAD). In an Introdution is following statement:
(...) The original DevC++ was a paradox in that it was a C/C++ IDE written in Delphi Pascal. wxDev-C++ continues this tradition (...)

I was told otherwise in the wxWidgets IRC channel on Freenode.
