Unable to start wxDev-C++ in Windows 9x

Post by frew » Sun Apr 15, 2007 4:15 pm

Hello,

When I start wx-Devcppp I get error messages:

1. Devcpp...this program has performed an illegal operation...invalid page fault in module unknown...

I click close on that message then immediately another error message comes up saying

2.Error...Runtime error 216 at 00403F7E

wx-Devcpp thus will not start up for me.

Any ideas what I can do about this?

I'm using win98SE.

I was using latest Dev-C++ (not wx-Devcpp) with no problems.

I wanted to make GUI for my simple small programs, and heard that
wx-Devcpp may be the way to go.

I uninstalled Dev-C++ completely with it's uninstaller, then deleted the Dev-C++ folder.

I then installed wx-Devcpp to C:\Dev-Cpp.

I then rebooted and when I click on devcpp.exe I get the errors above.

I don't see anything on the site that mentions any system requirements.

Are there any know reasons why it might not run on Win 98 SE?

Thank you for any ideas about this.

Ironically, it was a fix to access violations on NT-based systems. I have a fix and the fix is in SVN, but there will not be an official fix for it till the next release. I maintain an alpha which does have it fixed, however.

Hello,

Thank you for the fix. Now it starts. I replaced the devcpp.exe wtih the standalone alpha devcpp.exe.

Here's my problem now.

All settings are default in wxDevCpp.

I put in this simple code and I click compile and I get this error that I send now.

Here's the code I put in:

#include <stdio.h>

main ()

{
int j;

scanf ("%i", &j);

if (j > 23) printf ("\n Greater Than 23 \n");

else printf ("\n Less Than 23 \n");

return 0;

}

Sometimes nothing at all happens when I click compile. Been using DevCpp for a month or so and simple programs have been compiling fine...so I'm not sure why they are not compiling in wxDevCpp.

I sent a bug report using the email thing that popped up when I got the error when I went to compile this.

I put this here on the forum just in case the email thing did not go through.

This little program compiles fine on DevCpp but not on wxDevCpp.

I totally uninstalled all DevCpp stuff before installing wxDevCpp, then I installed wxDevCp and rebooted (not that I needed to reboot, but I did anyways).

Thanks for any ideas about what I can do next in order to compile simple programs. I'm just getting started with C.

Alas, http://joelsplace.sg/projects/wxdsgn/ is no longer valid link, "File not Found" is returned.

Can someone please point to help?
