wxtts or text to speech maintained in 2020

Post by marco_84 »

Hi everyone,
I wanted to know if there is a component of wxwidgets as an alternative to wxtts that I found on sourceforge.net but which has been abandoned for many years,
I need it to have an audio notification for a deadline, which announces the deadline as soon as an expiration date is reached
I tried to look for other things, how to windows sapi and this too has been abandoned for many years and the microsoft doesn't give updated instructions to use it.

thanks

I'm using: Ubuntu and Windows platform with wxwidgets 3.1.4

It's a little late, but: I know that under Windows at least SAPI5 still works. Maybe SAPI4 too. So i think wxTTS might still work.

Hi Doublemax, thanks for the reply,
as the SAPI are obsolete
what can i use of API to develop still supported?
I want to make a voice announcement as soon as the application starts
pronouncing the event vocally
for example: "insurance policy expiry on March 5, 2021"

thanks

Who says SAPI is obsolete? It's still available in Windows 10.

Another option might be "espeak-ng", but i have no experience with it:

What's your requirement regarding the speech quality? Does it have to be as human as possible, or just "understandable"?

I guess espeak-ng should be a good option then. Especially if you need something for Windows and Linux.
