What is about the release for 2.9.0 ?

It should be out for a few weeks...

What are the problems behind that? I didn't read something about it on the list or in the blog.

There is a release candidate for 2.9.

As always with open source, delays come from lack of free time. Since development always happens in people's free time, estimates of when things are ready are never very accurate - as simple as that.

Btw: what do you expect from 2.9.0 what 2.8.x does not offer?

Have a look at the SVN trunk's change log. It contains a lot of information about the upcoming releases.

I can not say it exactly. But the last time I tried to compile against 2.8 it wasn't unpossible because of some missing classes.
