X11 looks real bad, GTK better?

Post by grommit100 » Fri Apr 29, 2005 5:48 pm

I successfully got my 2.6 X11 version to compile.
I tried using the samples, and am extremely disappointed by what appear to be very obvious bugs.

For example .....

When running anything with a menu, selecting a pulldown menu, then moveing the mouse away, does not close the menu,

Like on my browser here, if I select "File", I get a pull down.
If I move the mouse away, the pull-down closes.

In all the examples, each pull-down stays open. I can have 5 open at once, and can't close them.
In many, the keyboard control doesn't work.

Is this because:
1. X11 is a bad choice, and I should use GTK
2. The sample directories are never updated, and just don't work.
3. I have a serious compiler / platform issue that I haven't noticed.

I am guessing the answer is 3 or 1.
Any comments would be appreciated.

I am running SuSE Linux 9.0, gcc compiler.

I'm sure you can find your answer in http://lists.wxwidgets.org/cgi-bin/ezml ... :sss:75645

Looks like X11 was the worst way to go. I'm recompiling for GTK now.
