May I make a sugestion here?

Why don't you give the codeblocks ide a try?

it first has a wizard to help create a basic template of your program. then it has a graphical wxwidgets editor that allows you to pick and place controls. then from those controls you can write the code from whatever action they support without messing with event tables and such as it does it for you.

for instance click on "new project", generate your template based on the wizard, place a button, double click the button, write your code for the button, compile, done...

It really helps you understand what wxwidgets needs, how, and why, while simultaniously makeing wxwidgets easy to use.

and even when you start to get advanced, you will appreciate how much time it saves.

It's how I learned anyway...
