New wxWidgets patch

Post by the_drow » Fri Nov 03, 2006 8:05 am

I'm considering to make a new wxWidgets patch that will support & use stl, templates and newer development strategies.
My question is if someone will ever use it and if I can get some help on the development.

That would probably be a huge patch and you may have some trouble getting it accepted in the current version.

I know that there are plans to modernize wxWidgets starting with version 3. You may want to look around the wiki for information.

Your best bet is probably to get on the development forum and talk directly to the devs about this.

Yes.

Moreover, it is a wx2 target to not use templates and STL. This simply because, at wx2 started time, much compiler do not support them completly. I suggest you to vist some links :

* http://www.wxwidgets.org/docs/faqgen.htm#exceptions

And if you wana help to develop a wx version with all super C++features, you can look at the wxTNG (aka wx3) wiki : http://www.wxwidgets.org/wiki/index.php ... xWidgets_3[/list]

I already know this. I'm thinking to open a new project that uses wxWidgets and changes it.
I didn't know that wxWidgets 3 should have STL.
Maybe I should contact the developers and work with them on version 3 already.

Any suggestions?
