Do you have a typical platform dependent issue you're battling with ? Ask it here. Make sure you mention your platform, compiler, and wxWidgets version.

wxMSW programs are very slow to start.

I linked against the wxMSW 3.0.0 compiled by myself with "g++.exe (tdm-2) 4.8.1", which is what the compiler option "--version" outputs. My platform is Windows XP running on VirtualBox hosted by Linux Debian. It's now very slow to start, like forever, after upgrading to this new version of wxWidgets. I also upgraded my compiler of which the old version number I don't remember. I don't know what causes this slowdown. Does anyone encounter the same problem? My previous version of wxMSW is 2.9.x, and it works like a charm.

I encountered this problem a year ago (or maybe more)
I did some reasearch and it turns out to be several factors:

- The fact that I used the monolithic DLL of wxWidgets
- Changes that were made to GCC

I documented the changes for how to properly build wxWidgets on Windows using MinGW here

Thank you so much, Eran. I follow your instructions and it works perfectly.
