If you're talking about the way that Visual Studio notifies you that the configuration is out of data and prompts to rebuild, then try this.

Comment out the following lines in the wx.rc file in the /include/msw folder in the wxWidgets distribution

Code: Select all

#if defined(_WIN32_WCE)
    #include "wx/msw/wince/wince.rc"
#endif

If you aren't building for Windows CE you can simply comment this section of the code. At least it works for me... The problem is that VS can't deal with #if/def statements in a resource file and always thinks the solution has changed.

I have noticed this for all rc-files. Since then I always copy the text to my own rc-file and don't include the wx-rc. Then everything is ok.

Not including wx.rc is good as long as you do not use resource items from wx itself. Unfortunately the wxToolBar needs the wx.rc, also the XP manifest is linked into it. If you do not do that you will have to provide this yourself.

It is truely annoying that it chokes on the project dependencies. But heck, I always press F9 and it compiles then runs.

what do you mean ? on the standart Config F9 is making a breakpoint - this doesn't really help.

hmm maybe i should try the newest hotfixes....

Sorry, I always mistake Delphi with VS7. The drawback of using two IDE's very frequently. I use Delphi at work C++ at home..

ah ok :)

hmm it must have to do with my config.
my partner works on the same project, but he haven't got that problem.
we have a very similar configuration, we also share the project file over CVS... but he haven't got that problem.

very strange.....
