MinGW Compilation Woes

Do you have a question about makefiles, a compiler or IDE you are using and need to know how to set it up for wxWidgets or why it doesn't compile but other IDE's do ? Post your questions here.

MinGW Compilation Woes

Post by BinaryTracks » Sat Sep 02, 2006 10:04 pm

I followed the instructions found here:
http://forums.wxwidgets.org/viewtopic.p ... d+end+file

I am using MinGW 5.0.2. and wxWidgets-2.6.3 with patch.

I get the following errors:

G:\wxWidgets-2.6.3\build\msw>mingw32-make -f makefile.gcc BU
ILD=DEBUG SHARED=1 MONOLITHIC=1 USE_XRC=1 UNICODE=1 VENDOR=wx263
if not exist gcc_mswudll mkdir gcc_mswudll
Syntax error: end of file unexpected (expecting "then")
mingw32-make: [gcc_mswudll] Error 2 (ignored)
if not exist ..\..\lib\gcc_dll mkdir ..\..\lib\gcc_dll
Syntax error: end of file unexpected (expecting "then")
mingw32-make: *** [..\..\lib\gcc_dll] Error 2

Please help!

Thanks,
Chris

Problem Solved!

It was a path problem! Apparently Cygwin was confusing the build.

I set the following...

PATH=C:\MinGW\bin

And it builds okay!

I get a ton of warnings however....

../../include/wx/msw/app.h:18: warning: type attributes are honored only at type definition

There's probably postings on this warning, so I will check.

unfortunately this is "normal" when compiling wxWidgets,
obviously the devs don't care about this problem,
it exists since several years now ...
