How do I create a .exe from my wxsmith project?

Do you have a question about makefiles, a compiler or IDE you are using and need to know how to set it up for wxWidgets or why it doesn't compile but other IDE's do ? Post your questions here.

How do I create a .exe from my wxsmith project?

Post by MegAmaNeo1 » Sun Sep 20, 2020 6:59 pm

I am writing a program with a GUI using the wxsmith plugin.
How do I create a .exe that stands for itself so I can just hand it to other users and they can run the program?
I do not have a .exe in my bin folder.

I am a beginner and not familiar with some technical terms.

-------------- Build: Debug in Deutschprojekt (compiler: GNU GCC Compiler)---------------

Target is up to date.
Nothing to be done (all items are up-to-date).

-------------- Run: Debug in Deutschprojekt (compiler: GNU GCC Compiler)---------------

Checking for existence: /home/sinan/Schreibtisch/Deutschprojekt/Deutschprojekt/bin/Debug/Deutschprojekt
Set variable: LD_LIBRARY_PATH=.:/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu:
Executing: /home/sinan/Schreibtisch/Deutschprojekt/Deutschprojekt/bin/Debug/Deutschprojekt (in /home/sinan/Schreibtisch/Deutschprojekt/Deutschprojekt/.)

So you can compile and run your application from inside the IDE? Then the exe must be somewhere ;)
It won't bin in any /bin directory, it should be in a folder inside the project directory, the name depends on the compiler and configuration, but it should be something like /gcc_mswud32 or similar.

Yes it does compile and run from inside the IDE.

I have multiple .h , .depend, .cpp, .o files..

In my project folder there is a \bin\debug path inside which is a file that has the name of my project but there is no .anyting
Cant be opened either.

There is no .exe in my project folder..

Can I export the project somehow / create it from inside the IDE?

Sorry, i overlooked that you're using Linux. Linux doesn't use .exe extension, binaries are just marked as executable with a flag.

So you want to create a Windows .exe under Linux? This is called cross-compiling, and AFAIK not trivial to set up. At least i don't know how to do it. Please use Google or search on this forum for details.
