How to compile wxwidgets application on Linux machine targeted for windows machines

Do you have a question about makefiles, a compiler or IDE you are using and need to know how to set it up for wxWidgets or why it doesn't compile but other IDE's do ? Post your questions here.

How to compile wxwidgets application on Linux machine targeted for windows machines

Post by alvindera97 » Sun Apr 19, 2020 11:05 am

I use Ubuntu 18.04 and wxwidgets-3.1.3. I have been able to successfully write, compile and run my GUI application for Linux. I would now like to compile my application to be able to run on Windows operating system. From the research that I made, this is possible however, I am not sure what resource to use or how to go about it.

Little note about my installation of wxwidgets
I installed wxwidgets (I believe version 3.1.3) [using the short version or TL;DR] from the instructions at https://wiki.wxwidgets.org/Compiling_an ... ng_started after downloading the source code for linux.

Now I would like to compile my code to work on windows machines (be it 64-bit or 32-bit x86 architecture). Thank you. However, I do not have a windows PC to test.

Hi,
You can use configure script to configure the build for cross-compiling.

Thank you.
