wxCode merge in wxForum

Post by Jorg »

Hi all, Franchesco came with the idea to make a wxCode forum on the wxForum for all people who have their own components, to talk about it, post announcments and answer questions. I find it a great idea and will with his help set up the forum.

So to let everybody know a new forum will arise soon on the wxForum!

This is also great for announcing new components. Good thing to have this here.

Ok the forum is added! I also provided two links to the sites they represent, so people will be informed about what is wxCode about. Also for wxDev-Cpp as it is a forum for an external application.

Is there already something in the forum? If not, that mightbe the case .. also I do not know if the RSS php script needs this forum to be added as well.

I don't think so. Empty forum should probably generate empty list in XML syntax while html page with typical wxForum decoration is returned.

Hmm, is that forum for wxCode components authors for cooperation or for anybody else who potentially could want to discuss wxCode features. From previous posting from upCase my impression was that only administrative forums (like discussing mods between moderators) should be removed from RSS.

If this is just added and the original author did not had the chance to add it as a valid RSS lead, then I guess that is the reason why it is not showing up ;-) I had no clue how the RSS feed works, personally i prefer the "get last posts since visit" that is how I can quickly see where new posts are ..

Personally I forgot who created the RSS lead. Was it AkiraDev? I might be wrong..

Two weeks ago upCASE seemed involved in fixing http://forums.wxwidgets.org/viewtopic.php?t=4787 so I will patiently wait for him :)

Should I patch that?
Currently the RSS script returns "no matches found" if there's no result. I can take that out and return an empty list.

The script will list all available forums, nothing needs to be added.
About leaving out the Admin forum -> I can't tell from the sources that this was implemented. I have the strong feeling that anybody could read this via RSS. I'll try to confirm that.

BTW: Someone called "Tyler Newton" authored the scripts. I don't know who copied them to the board.

Ok.
Only forums with AUTH_ALL set can be viewed. Should I try to remove forums not having this set from the list?

Whatever ABX wants is fine with me ;-) I think returning an empty list is better so that RSS readers can interpret that as "no posts" instead of somehting that can be interpreted as posts..

Many thanks! You have deserved to receive bug-free copy of wxWidgets ;)

Yeeeehaa!
I allways knew that you devs had a script running that would periocically add some bugs, so that you could make us think the new versions are really *new* while you all are working with the 6.0 release.... Finaly downloading my 3.0-upCASE-special-build-bug-free version :)
Just kidding. I'm happy "as is" and the rest is fixed by a creativity blast through Tchaikovsky ;)

BTW: Somebody should update the roadmap. 2.8 schedueled for mid 2005? I guess not :)
