Rank titles and the award system (answered post mod)

Post by Jorg »

Some of you might have noticed it, but the ranks are no longer associated with the # of posts, but to the credits you earn by answering other posts and getting awarded by the moderators or the original poster for it.

This is a nicer rank system as you can now see how "good" a person is at solving other people's problems.

Also, when you click on the wxAwards link on the side of your (or other people's) posts you can see how high you are ranked in the top 50 wxAward hall of fame.

I urge everyone of you to award others when the problem is solved. Please click the "Accept Answer" or "Assist Answer" to let that person earn some credits. Also, per default every post is a question. When you don't have a question, change the type to "Normal".

Where are they good for? Well nothing other then rising in the overall list of people that earned credits here. The higher you go, the more respected you are for your answers.

Also, at the bottom the Treasure Chest status is shown how many credits there are in the forum earned by others, and how much you have as % to that.

Have fun!

Is it normal if someone posts a question and sets the awards to himself once the problem is solved (by someone else, of course) :?:

On the other hand, how to do when the original poster finds the answer himself :?:

That's right. When the original poster "solves" the problem himself the answer is given basically by him/her. So one of the mods closes the question by marking it as solved.

The basic way of things would be that someone else solves it and the original poster awards him.her for it. Sometimes that doesn't happen so one of the mods decides if the answer solves it or not

If the original poster marks his answer as accepted no awards points are given. If someone else does they are given.

So, if I choose an answer as "accepted answer", the poster of this answer automatically receives the awards. Am I right :?:

That is right .. as long as you are not the originator yourself, that other person should receive points. I have noticed that this does not always work and I filed this as a bug on the bugtracker.
