Hi!
lowjoel wrote:naa ur not stupid... i know how hard it is to make a mod like this... i know u almost had to turn phpbb upside down... so just give urself a pat on the back.

well i wont mind helping you in any way if you need me, but just want to let you know - its a good mod so far - dont kill urself because of these small little techinical screwups
Well, it really was a stupid error. :D
Thanks for the flowers, I hope that everything will work out some time soon. phpBB is surely good, but sometimes I just don't get what they did, how and why they did it...
I suppose that's the main reason why bugs like that happen. But I don't have the time to do some "proper coding". I try and it's quite clear in most places, but sometimes I just wanted to do things quick, so it's add a SELECT here, get some vars there... Hope you can help with the modifications Jorg suggested.

UpCase, it seems to work great!

Ok, all who want to work on future mods and extensions of the board will be asked to join http://bugs.solidsteel.nl so that we can put our bugs, messages and communication there, and hopefully fix them next time on a test forum, so that regular posters do not suffer from minor hickups ..

I will put the test forum in place, and provide a FTP account which will be made available to all people registered to the bugtracker.

I however do urge you to communicate .. maybe we even need a versioning system in place, because the last thing I want is one overwriting the other people's changes by bluntly ftp'ing it all to the test forum.

Does someone have any idea for a versioning system or prevent people from uploading and overwriting other people's code?

Surely not...
1. I can't afford it
2. I don't need it :D

I'm neither a webmaster, nor a designer.
But you're right about CVS. I'm very happy using SVN, but I really don't think we need a versioning system right now. I'll fix the bugs my code has caused so far and would be happy to let lowjoel implement the stuff you suggested.

No. This is community of programmers. The common repositiories types for developers are Perforce, CVS, SVN etc, etc. I hear first time that dreamwaver has repository support, but that's anyway last thing I could imagine to use in world wide opensource-related project support.

Let's do this on a single access base then. One person at the time will add features, we will review them (UpCase, joel and me) and I will upload them to the board when they are solid.

Tyler are you in as well? I know you did a great job with the PHP code for the RSS, I would appreciate it if we had some reviewers of the code.

Not that I don't trust anybody but now that we make more and more modifications I just need to assure that the board will be stable.

I will keep a copy of the latest uploaded code on my locak SuperVersion repository so we can always see what changes are done per release.

Ok I have uploaded a few feature items to the bugtracker at http://bugs.solidsteel.nl this is what I think still needs some attention. Feel free to add notes or change them. I will drag you guys into the project so you can also enter bugs or change them.

Use the notes to discuss the bugs they will generate an email notification if news is added :-)

upCASE wrote:BTW: The new icons look really good!
Thanks! I'm glad you like them. Unfortunately they are supposed to be 18x18 but as they sit now they are 19x17. That's my mistake, I should have done them with a 19x17 canvas size because now they are distorted. I will redo them and PM you when they are at the new size. Do you prefer I save them as gif? I noticed you had giffed'em.

I am definitely in with helping out. I am going to update the RSS so that the title of the feed will change depending on which forums you select (per ABX's request). And also fix the size of the select box under silly IE.

Thanks!

No problem, I can do that myself. GIFs are phpBB "standard" type.

Ok guys,

You can use the test forum to experiment on that ;-)
When I will transfer the forum I will do the following:

- Copy the test forum php + other code to my local disk
- Copy the latest forum code to my disk
- Check in the latest forum code into my version control system
- Use WinMerge to catch the changes and apply them
- Upload the new changes

In my eyes those steps are needed because more people work on the forum now, so we need to watch the test forum for more inconsistencies or not yet finished features.

Regards,
