My company blocked me !

Hi all,

Just to let you know, my company (which is a SOFTWARE COMPANY) decided to block www.solidsteel.nl. Apperantly they see no value in reading C++ articles and solutions to problems, especially because I am a PROGRAMMER.

I am in the process of battling this, because it is rediculous to block a forum from which questions and answers can be a good source of knowledge. The company is a non software company from origin, so maybe their insight in how important the internet can be, is not completely propagated.

So, if you don't see much of me during the day (my day) that is because I cannot reach it nomore

Just to let you know...

That's really too bad :(. Maybe its because solidsteel does other stuff which your company doesn't like? Maybe only blocking a particular part?

Anyway, that really sucks - but I have good news - I finally have a chance to surpass your post count, MWAHAHA  .

Hopefully this will be resolved though... that would really suck not being able to access it during the day

Thanks guys,

I will fight it. It is stupid to block it, probably because they see the IP / name pass more then often (I also check my home mail on my domain).

And to Ryan, you might have more posts then me, but you are not playing it fair ;-) I cannot post during my day now ... or else you would have never passed me by

Anywayz, congrats in contributing 800+ times to the board! :-)

Really a weird thing...
When I joined my company they asked "What do you need?" and I said "A decent PC with a graphic card with passive cooler and free internet access". Never had any problems like that...

I'm sure they will change their mind. It's not like you post here fulltime and don't do what they pay you for.

About the postings: Well, I guess I'll never make it to second place :D

It's fixed now! :-)

Just pray how long it remain like this .. At least I could claim it is C++ which is keeping my programming language skills up to date.

Hi Jorg,

if you have administrator rights on your local computer and if you are interested in a workaround, have a look at http://anon.inf.tu-dresden.de/index_en.html
It usually helps when a company blocks a site.

And if you are a programmer you have to know how programming works, not just asking others

Tss, sometimes admins are stupid somehow

Good luck,
Sebastian

C_bastian, thanks for the info. I urged our local admin to unblock me and so they did.

And about"knowing about programming, so no need for asking" I am no arrogant type. I do not know everything. So I learn a lot here, and as I am programming C++ and Delphi at work, there is always a need to stay up to date with the newest tools and paradigms.

Plus, helping others is also good ;-)

Hello Jorg,

I've read the post from Jul 12, but indeed my intention was to help others having the same problem.

I'm very sorry if you misunderstood my "know erverything" sentence. I hoped the  would make clear that it was meant ironic.
