Error "The submitted form was invalid"

Post by PB »

Sometimes, not very often, but seems like every couple of weeks I get
The submitted form was invalid. Try submitting again.
when trying to reply to a topic (or start a new one). I tried a different browser, same result. It starts working again after a couple of hours or so.

I noticed that when it happens, the URL contains the session ID, which it normally does not.

Does it happen to someone else as well?

Also noticed the behaviour several week ago. Didn't report because it took only for couple of hours and never happen again.

Hi,

Not exactly that, but similar intermittent issues e.g. trying to log out -> 'You were not logged out, as the request did not match your session'.

As happens for you, wait long enough and everything is back to normal.

I don't understand what goes wrong, and (2 months ago) I couldn't find anything similar in the phpBB forum.

Regards,

David

I am sorry I forgot to write that the error displays in red above the edit for the post body. Never experienced the issue e with logging out.

There is a couple of threads about this issue on phpBB support forums, such as this or this.

When it happens I do not think I do something differently not I experience issues with other web sites. But as suggested in one of the threads linked above, I will try clearing cookies: suddenly having an SID in the URL may indicate something went wrong with them.

I guess I run into the issue more often as I spend way too much time here.

The submitted form was invalid. Try submitting again.

This mistake is being repeated many times! Does not work clear cookies, restart browser, change browser.
The Forum wasn't like this before!
When that happened today, I had to reboot the router included.
At this point when trying to answer a post, it happened again.
Sometimes it just works again, without even doing anything!
This is looking like a BUG

I noticed yesterday and earlier today that clicking 'Mark topics read' in a subforum seemed to work at the time, but a later refresh marked the same posts Unread. It's resolved now.
It happened to me as well, around noon CEST.
I too have noticed that noon is a common time for these problems, and that they tend to resolve in around an hour. I wonder if it's an issue with the timezone and/or Daylight Saving setting, which for me is currently UTC+1.

CEST = UTC + 2. IIRC, it happened couple of minutes before (my) noon. Not sure if I tried after the noon but before 1 pm.

But this time it was different that in the OP as unlike that time, I was getting logged out. Tried clearing the cookies, no change.

For me it's happening at 19:15 my time zone is -3. Exactly now is the 13th time I've tried to post

Problem also with Login, because it doesn't work without checking remember
Logout doesn't work either, I can only log off the forum by clearing the cookies
Image

Problem with the notifications too! Clicking on it does not lead to the forum page.
Before all this worked without problems!

maybe this problem may have something to do with Login, again it happened and it may have been because I logged in from a thread rather than from the forum home page.

Every time I log in, I can't log out! It is now 5am. Not even switching the IP works.

That sounds like something to do with cookies, or with the login system. That doesn't log in correctly, which would justify not being able to log out.

Today I had problems at 0800, which had resolved by 0930; so the daylight-saving idea is probably wrong.

This is now happening to me since yesterday when attempting to reply to a topic. The sid value in the address url keeps changing after every click on 'Preview' and 'Submit'; that looks wrong. ...But for this topic there is no sid in the address bar and it looks like it's working just fine even at the first attempt.

Happened to me just now. Nothing worked, not even posting to the admins. It also appears my account was deleted to had to re-register. No matter. Back now.

I also had this issue, after loging in an hour ago after some months (years) since last login (with same system/browser because it remembered my login settings).

I fixed it by clearing my browser cookies for forums.wxwidgets.org !

I think this may be a phpBB3 issue with cookies settings.
