Question to moderator

Post by ONEEYEMAN »

Hi,
How come the line: "User reading the forum" always shows "None"?

Thank you.

I'm not a moderator, but it works for me, I always see myself and sometimes other people too.

As far as I know it works. I do see the people reading. I unfortunately missed the big blow of 173 simultaneaus logins, but there have never been problems. Maybe it is a cookie setting you might have switched off?

2KevinHock: Well, I see "None" every time. Even, when I logged in
2Jorg: What cookie settings you are referring to?

Thank you.

When you do not allow a forum cookie it might be that some settings do not work. What browser are you using?

To elaborate this is what I see:

In total there are 17 users online :: 2 Registered, 0 Hidden and 15 Guests [ Administrator ] [ Moderator ]
Most users ever online was 173 on Fri May 20, 2005 10:40 am
Registered Users: Jorg, SnakeChomp

I think it's the "Users browsing this forum" at the top of an individual forum, not the overall forum footer, that he was discussing.

2Jorg: I ma using IE under Windows XP for now, and in the process of installing Gentoo with KDE and KDevelop.
2KevinHock: Yes I am referring to the "Users browsing this forum" line in one particular forum.

Thank you.

Ok,

Well even that works for me.. But they indeed do it every 'x' minutes. Even the users on the forum is based upon an interval of 5 minutes or so.

Thank you for the reply, but... :(
I couldn't even see myself, when I logged in.
You could look at my profile and check that maybe I didn't turn something on.

Thank you.

Try going into a forum, but not reading a thread in particular. Then, wait a minute, and then refresh the forum listing, and see if you show up.

Well sometimes it shows I am browsing the forum, sometimes nobody is browsing it .. might it be the time of year? People are on holiday ..

Anyway if you can really reproduce the issue and find it worth to be looked at, please file a bug at http://bugs.solidsteel.nl maybe UpCase changed something in that region, I don't know ..

I would not have thought otherwise,

ONEEYEMAN, it works as expecte. The way I checked is going to the admin area. There I can see what everybody was doing at the time I entered the admin area. Some people were on C++ Forum, others on Compler / IDE related. I checked who were there, and saw this;

Moderator: wxForum Moderators
Users browsing this forum: chris, Jorg

So it must be coincedence that nobody was shown up. It really depends on how many people are actually logged in. Please be advised that the people listed are from 5 minutes ago, and 5 mins is a long time when looking around on a website.
