Mailing Lists and more DOWN?

Do you like to promote your wxWidgets based application or component!? Post it here and let's see what the critics have to say. Also, if you found that ONE wx component the world needs to know about, put it here for future reference.

Mailing Lists and more DOWN?

Post by Ryan Norton » Sat Sep 04, 2004 5:35 pm

Robin send this to both mls-

Hi,

Some of you have probably noticed that there are currently some DNS
troubles for wxwidgets.org. I am able to send this message to the mail
lists because I have duplicate DNS records in my local nameserver, but
for most of the rest of you the mail lists, website, and cvs probably
appear to be down.

This message is just to let you know that I am aware of the situation
and will move the DNS to a more reliable host as soon as possible.

P.S. Don't use domainsite.com for your own domains. I am now very glad
that I procrastinated on moving the rest of my domains there.

I have not seen any hickups, but then again, I am just recovering from a full system install (also running on Fedora 2 now) so it might just slipped my attention. The wxWidgets site seems to work well here.

Ditto for me too - although I havn't posted to the mailing list in a while. I tend to like the forums better, !

OT Edit: I'm still waiting for distros to get KDE 3.3 in a stable version :)

Still down for me. What's the IP address so I can simply add it to my hosts file for the time being?

I have noticed it too as well now. I hope they solve it quickly. Both the site and wxWidgets are down, and now that I see, the cvs as well.

Maybe it is not related, but a lot of sites are slow for me today. Is there an important backbone down or something?

OK - it looks like everything's back up now.

EDIT: Hostnames (from Robin)

Hi all,

In case you want to work around this DNS outage by making entries in
your local hosts file, here are the addresses:

130.225.247.90 cvs.wxwidgets.org
130.225.247.90 lists.wxwidgets.org
195.169.216.157 wiki.wxwidgets.org
66.35.250.210 wxwidgets.org
66.35.250.210 www.wxwidgets.org

There is one hitch in this plan though, the MX host for
lists.wxwidgets.org is a.mx.sunsite.dk so you may need to set that
address to 130.225.247.86 in order to send mail to the lists, but then
you won't be able to access the archives. Don't forget to remove the
hosts file entries once things are working normally again.
