wxGTK 2.9.4 and 2.9.5 debs and rpms available

Post by DavidHart » Fri Sep 21, 2012 1:53 pm

Hi,

(Update: See this thread for wxGTK 3.0.0)

In its latest revisions, CodeLite requires wxWidgets >= 2.9.4. Since 2.9 packages are not available from distros, I've created some for the most popular ones. For debian squeeze and wheezy, and ubuntu lucid to saucy, there are repositories; and for fedora 17 18 19 and openSUSE 12.1 12.2 12.3 there are rpms. More will be added for new releases, both of those distros and of wx.

Update: wx2.9.5 was released on 17/07/2013. For debian squeeze and wheezy, ubuntu precise to raring, and fedora 18 and 19 there are now wx2.9.5 binaries. The 2.9.4 ones are still available if they're needed.
I've stopped producing for openSUSE as from 12.3 there are official wx2.9 packages.

Though created for CodeLite, of course anyone else is welcome to use them. Instructions and links can be found on this page. Please let me know about any problems.

Regards,

David

All links from your page to all repository branches are "forbidden" for some reason, David. At least for me.

The rpm urls are genuine links. The debian ones e.g. http://repos.codelite.org/wx2.9/debian aren't; they're just the lines to add to /etc/apt/sources.list etc. I've now surrounded them with the correct wiki-syntax to make that clear.

Corresponding internal links e.g. http://repos.codelite.org/wx2.9/debian/ ... y_i386.deb would work; but each debian package is split into multiple debs, and providing links for each is too hard. Anyway, on debian distros you should be using apt-get ;) .

David,
The repos does not work for Raring tail (13.04)
They worked fine for Precise. Any fix?

Are you sure your /etc/apt/sources.list has current entries? The repo is now hosted at repos.codelite.org, and the previous server doesn't have raring items.

The line should be:

Code: Select all

deb http://repos.codelite.org/wx2.9/ubuntu/ raring universe

here is the line

Code: Select all

deb http://repos.codelite.org/ubuntu/ raring universe
# deb-src http://repos.codelite.org/ubuntu/ raring universe
and so wx29 is missing.
Thanks I think this information deserves to be in the Wiki page
