TimeWarden, a Windows parental control software

Do you like to promote your wxWidgets based application or component!? Post it here and let's see what the critics have to say. Also, if you found that ONE wx component the world needs to know about, put it here for future reference.

TimeWarden, a Windows parental control software

Post by eranif »

Hi all,

Coupled of months ago, I wrote a parental control software to help me monitor the time my son is spending on the internet, the content of the websites and limiting his game time (the Windows built-in functionality is very limited)

The result is "TimeWarden" - a Windows application that allows me to apply certain rules and control the content that my child has access to (until he is older enough to make his own judgment..)
The application is not open-sourced, however here is a license to use with the applicaton:

Code: Select all

License.:32116168D1E4B9D44B42A05DE173782E
Username:wxWidgets
You can download it from here:
http://www.smartkoders.com/Downloads/Main/

Or just get impression of what it can do from here:
http://www.smartkoders.com/TimeWarden/Tutorial/

Hope you find it useful as I do

Hi.

Congratulations : It seems you've made a good job (I didn't tried it, but I had a look at the website, and saw the differents screenshots).

Do you plan to make an Ubuntu version, or will you limit this to Windows ?

Thanks

I am not sure .. my kid is only playing on Windows.. so I did not put too much effort on Linux

If a demand will rise, I will probably make it for Linux as well (should not be too hard)

Looks great. I wonder, though, if an additional feature might be useful... block ALL websites unless it matches either a Title or URL. For my youngest daughters, they can't really read yet. I don't want them just clicking around, thus, I'd like to say they can visit site a, site b and site c. Clicking elsewhere would yield a blocked website.

Sounds like a good idea- since my older son is only 6+ and my little girl is 3.5 it makes sense ;)

I will add this and will upload new version soon
