BitWise IM 1.0.5 Released

Post by KevinHock » Fri Jun 17, 2005 2:00 pm

Hello wxWidgets community:

BitWise IM Version 1.0.5 is available from www.bitwiseim.com for Windows, Mac OS X and Linux, thanks to wxWidgets. BitWise IM is an encrypted cross-platform instant messenger featuring text messaging, whiteboards, file sharing, voice chat, encryption and more. Personal and Professional versions are available, the latter providing a completely private IM network with administrative rights.

BitWise 1.0.5 features improved icons throughout the program, whiteboard enhancements, and some minor features and fixes since version 1.0.4. Many flicker and redraw issues were also corrected by upgrading to wxWidgets 2.6.1 on Windows.

Main Features:

128-bit Blowfish encryption
Text messaging with "tabbed" interface
Whiteboards for visual communication
File Sharing and advanced file transfer manager
Voice chat, direct-to-IP for low lag and excellent quality
Logging, both in plaintext or XML, with log viewer
Offline messaging
Unicode capable

BitWise was made with wxWidgets 2.6.1 on Windows and CVS HEAD on OS X and Linux/GTK2. BitWise also utilizes the open source Crypto++, Portaudio and Speex libraries.

BitWise is a great way to easily and securely collaborate on software projects. :)

You're welcome, it's a win-win for everyone. The more projects people see using wxWidgets, the more appealing wxWidgets is, and the more people use BitWise, the better things are for me and my company too! :)

We also just released 1.0.5.1 today too, fixing a few minor problems, one of them related to the following:

Public service announcement for anyone who targets Tiger: never set a window to size (0,0) because once you do, you can never give it a real size again! I learned that the hard way. It works on every other platform, just not Tiger.
