ANN: Update on DialogBlocks 4.28

Post by dsilvia » Tue Dec 09, 2008 11:45 pm

Hi!

It's been awhile, so I thought I might impart some information on the latest DialogBlocks version, 4.28. One thing that's new and probably unique (though I cannot attest to exactly which version it first appeared! ):

New! DialogBlocks is now Eee PC-friendly. DialogBlocks' own windows and dialogs have been adjusted to fit the screen on Windows and Linux, and dialogs you create (apart from wizards) will be previewed with scrollbars when necessary. To use scrolling dialogs in your own applications, download wxScrollingDialog. Plus, full-screen mode (F11) gives you more space to work with.

It's still about the best IDE available for wxWidgets, well documented, well supported, and "right from the horse's mouth" (pardon the phrase, please, Julian! ) It's also still "free" in that its "evaluation" version has no time limit, builds wxWidgets (and correctly) for any platform, can be used for most demos/samples/tutorials without restriction... The "real" restriction on an "unregistered" version is its limitation to 30 elements in an application (oh, it also has the terrible annoyance of having UNREGISTERED boldly displayed in the title bar! ) It also creates all the necessary build files for all platforms and compilers recognized by wxWidgets, plus quite a few (e.g., Visual Studio project files from version 6 through 9 [a.k.a., Visual Studio 2008]). With it's extremely nominal registration fee, it's a pretty hard GUI/system tool to beat! :D

Give it a try! 8)
