Saya Video Editor project founded! *HELP WANTED*

Do you like to promote your wxWidgets based application or component!? Post it here and let's see what the critics have to say. Also, if you found that ONE wx component the world needs to know about, put it here for future reference.

Saya Video Editor project founded! *HELP WANTED*

Post by rick_777 »

Hi everyone! I'm here to announce the world's first video editor made with C++ and wxWidgets! It's called "Saya-VE", and it will be truly cross platform! 8) Saya-VE is a recursive acronym for "Saya-VE ain't yet another Video Editor" :P ), but we'll call it "Saya" for short.

At first I tried to contact the Lumiera team (Lumiera aims to be a successor for the Cinelerra linux video editor). Well, I spoke to them, and was dismayed to find out that they decided to use Linux-only toolkits! I realized immediately that someone had to do it right. And by "right", it meant doing it with wxWidgets

So far I've downloaded over 500 MB of screenshots, screencasts and tutorials for various commercial video editors (including but not limited Adobe Premiere, Canopus Edius, Sony Vegas, and whatnot) so I can replicate the best of each one.

The downside is that it's gonna take years if I try to do this on my own, so I'm here asking for volunteers who want to join. You don't need expertise or even experience in Video processing - only knowledge of wxWidgets (experience preferred), so we can focus on the UI. The easy part will be the dialogs (and that's taking me quite some time), the fun part will be designing the timeline controls.

I have a couple of screenshots available at http://saya-videoeditor.blogspot.com/ . Feel free to join at http://developer.berlios.de/projects/saya/

Thanks all! I'll be waiting for you!

Been following your blog and just wanted to let about two forums - where you could bang the drum if you need more people helping you out with the video stuff:

Wow... this would be awesome! Last week I had to edit a video (zooming and panning over a screen captured video) and I couldn't find any video editor to do this, I had to convert the source to images and use 3dsmax with an animated camera to render the video as I needed.

I'm developing a 3D Application using wxWidgets too, and we might share a lot of code (controls, image manipulation, time stuff). I'll try to drop you an email!

Keep up the good work!
