wxThread build Topic is solved

If you are using the main C++ distribution of wxWidgets, Feel free to ask any question related to wxWidgets development here. This means questions regarding to C++ and wxWidgets, not compile problems.

wxThread build

Post by wxJack »

Hello everyone! I want to understand the wxThread and then I tried to study the sample, after reading the chapter about wxThreads on the book. The single source code found in the sample directory builds and works fine.
But in order to better understand the wxThreads, I split the single source into 3 header files and 3 cpp files: one for the App, one for MyFrame, and the other for the threads (with the exception of the MyImageDialog class, deleted for simplicity without this affecting the compilation in the single complete source code).
Each .h file includes the other 2, the problem is that I do not know which rules to split these lines of code between the sources.

Code: Select all

#include "wx/wxprec.h"

#ifdef __BORLANDC__
    #pragma hdrstop
#endif

#ifndef WX_PRECOMP
    #include "wx/wx.h"
#endif

#if !wxUSE_THREADS
    #error "This sample requires thread support!"
#endif // wxUSE_THREADS

#include "wx/thread.h"
#include "wx/dynarray.h"
#include "wx/numdlg.h"
#include "wx/progdlg.h"

Furthermore, in each line where the wxGetApp appears (with the exception of the main) , the wxGetApp part is underlined with red (undefined identifier).
Can someone please help me to clarify these things? I'm gettin' crazy :oops:

Hi,
To answer your first question - put everything in all 3 and then remove line-by-line starting at the bottom.
When you get an error - you put that back.

To answer the second - it is because the appropriate include is missing.

Good luck.

Thank you.

thank you for the help !

about your first answer: trying in this way I 've had an error , something like "too much include statements " ,
but I will follow your advice and tomorrow I will let you know about the result.

about your 2nd answer: I wrote something wrong, I meant "wxGetApp" and not "wxGetPart" of course, my fault.
Do you mean my own .h files or wx widgets .h files? Anyway I will try both
thanks, really appreciated

So here we are:
- I solved the problem about wxGetApp() ;
- after many attempts and some changes (2 files.h and 2 cpp files instead of 3 and 3), the project now finally builds.

Very appreciated your help as always, many thanks !
if someone wants to study the wxThread argument keeping the app and the other sources separate, I attach here my files.

Code: Select all

//frame.cpp

#include "wx/wxprec.h"
#include "frame.h"
#include "MyApp.h"
#include <wx/app.h>
#include "wx/numdlg.h"
#include "wx/progdlg.h"
