Alsa, OpenAL, ?

wxWidgets is not an audio library, maybe it provides a few very basic audio classes but for dealing with stuff like you are I'm pretty sure you will have better luck with audio libraries

Try the Juce or FMOD libraries.

Hi!
Another simple option is using portaudio. I wrote a simple wrapper for it: http://forums.wxwidgets.org/viewtopic.php?t=3116
Note that the wrapper is more than two years old and portaudio may offer new features now. Still, for simple playback of buffered data this may be what you want.
OS: OpenSuSE, Ubuntu, Win XP Pro
wx: svn
Compiler: gcc 4.5.1, VC 2008, eVC 4
