Using Crystal Reports

Post by BlueStallion60 » Tue Feb 27, 2007 2:48 am

Is anybody out there using Crystal Reports in a wxWidgets app? I have started looking into Crystal Reports 10. It supposedly has an ActiveX report viewer. I have looked a little at the wxActiveXContainer, but i'm confused. I would like to create the reports outside the Wx app, then deploy the app and the .rpt files. Then have a way from the wxWidgets app to display a print preview of the report with the option to print the report. I have read some in this forum that the use ActiveX controls in wxWidgets apps isn't the best idea. If someone is using Crystal Reports I'd love to know how you are doing it.

Evidently nobody is using Crystal Reports. I did some more googling, and found a Crystal Reports viewer that is a stand alone commerical app. It's pretty cheap, and has a good command line interface. I'm using it with wxExecute, and it works pretty good. Best part is you don't have to mess with a ActiveX control, container, or their methods.
