Anyone knows when wx2.6 will be there?

If you are using the main C++ distribution of wxWidgets, Feel free to ask any question related to wxWidgets development here. This means questions regarding to C++ and wxWidgets, not compile problems.

Anyone knows when wx2.6 will be there?

Post by edrin » Mon Aug 30, 2004 10:49 pm

I am looking forward to the new release of wx as i need expat + XRC both for my application. 2.5.2 would be ok but the wxSocket stuff (MSW) is broken there (as i could see in CVS someone modified the evil stuff in the meantime and i guess this would solve the problem)

Therefor do you know when wx2.6 will be released? i really want to release my new lib/application now but i have to wait for wx2.6 first.

As quoted from Julian Smart on Aug 26th,

"Perhaps completion of stock buttons could mark the
2.5.3 release (say, mid-September) and we could schedule
2.6 for mid-October-ish."

Or you can use CVS_HEAD? ;-)
wxWidgets: SVN/trunk
OS: WinXP/2 + Ubuntu + Mac 10.4.11
Compiler: VS2005 + GCC 4.2 + GCC 4.0.1

Is this an indication that 2.5 devlopment is _really_ far and pretty stable then? I installed 2.4.2 here to make sure I got some stable stuff, but perhaps it is an idea to upgrade?
Regards,

Mostly - be on the lookout for odd-end bugs though. The mac port has defininately come a looong way.

If you're on other platforms besides mac though you probably just want to wait until 2.6 comes out.
