Re: Grab screen contents for multi-window app

More generally - does wx provide a neat way to get the contents of a single window as an image, as opposed to the entire screen?

Grab screen contents for multi-window app

I came across this page saying wx doesn't properly support screen-grabbing on Mac platform: http://wxwidgets.info/taking-screenshots-with-wxwidgets-under-mac-os-is-really-tricky/ I note it's 2.5 years old, is this still correct or is there now a cross-platform solution in wx itself? I want to get a ...

Re: What's the situation with wx and iOS?

Sounds interesting. Does anyone know what the situation is with creating windows on iOS - on Windows you have your top window on the desktop and create floating dialogs as you please but I always imagined things are different on iOS, that you are given/forced to use a 'full-screen' top window. Is th...

Email functionality?

Does wx have any built-in functionality for sending email using an existing server, rather than relying on the user's email client?

How does Boost.Interprocess compare with wx IPC?

I was interested to see wx offers some IPC functionality , cross-platform. I wondered how it compares and contrasts with Boost's IPC library I'm looking at IPC specifically for communication within a single PC, where one process can spawn multiple child processes for rendering (think of Google Chrom...

1. How did you create your VC++ project - from scratch, copied from your previous project ...? No, in this case it's from a CMAKE script, I'm adding wx to another codebase and they are setup to force CMAKE use. So I'm manually adding include dirs and libs, etc. 2. How did you build wxWidgets librar...

By the way, what is "standard wx SLN"? When I downloaded wx it came with a SLN which had several build configs... release|debug, static|dll, unicode|non-unicode. Also those duplicate CRT functions error messages are looking as if you're mismatching wxWidgets and your app's CRT libs. Happened to me ...

... In the professional world, I don't see using other IDEs as very viable because VS is the industry standard for Windows development... and it would mean the whole team changing to be effective unless I manage my own separate files. In Java this would be less problematic as things are simpler, or...

My advice to anyone is that VC++ is great. Unless I explain why, they are not helped by that advice... that's what I mean, you simply saying you like X isn't going to make me even consider ditching something I've used for years... again I'm deliberately NOT trying to start a discussion on it becaus...

I wasn't sure if I should change those files - they're documented but I don't recall reading about them much when I first installed wx. Is there a wiki page discussing them? To anyone who uses MSVC, I am a bit confused by how we end up with per-configuration .h file in our library folders. If I want...

Yep, MSVC has debug/release unicode build configurations supplied so you end up with _u & _ud versions of libs.

Tweaking wx builds, e.g wxUSE_THREADS, wxUSE_STL

In a few FAQs I see it mentioned that you can control wx builds in this way. But I don't recall a recommendation where to set these... I don't really want to manually change the project settings for all the libraries. Is this what the setup.h file is for... if so is there a guide on what should/shou...
