I am still learning a lot about linux. So I don't know how to check if postgresinteface.cpp was compiled into the .so file, I used the makefile that comes with the package. By the .so file you mean the one created by the databaselayer right? Not the library I created that uses the databaselayer clas...

Thanks for the reply, but i found out that what i needed was to use the semaphore. The condition I was doing somethings wrong thats why the timeout didn't work. The reason why I need to use semaphore is because I need for one thread to signal for the other to continue. And the mutexes and conditions...

Unlocking mutex and Timeout

I am having two problems with mutexes. One is that the time out of the condition never expires. It gets locked until it gets signalled no matter how long or short the time out is. The other is that I need to do somthing not very usual that is unlocking a mutex locked by a different thread. I need to...

databaselayer Postgres link

i am using opensuse 11.1 gcc 4.2 and databaselayer 1.8. For now i am only using postgres. I have made a shared library that has classes that use the databaselayer library to access the database. It compiled and worked on windows and compiled fine on linux. But my application that i am using to test ...

Does select() lock a thread?

I am writing a multi-thread application that each thread watches over a serial communication device. I want to know that if you do a select() to wait until the we receive something from the device or the timeout expires does it lock the whole application while waiting or does it lock only the thread...

I think that it would be a great thing especially with the 3.0 release that is coming that there will be support for both ANSI and Unicode without need of different builds (thats what I understood at least).

Perhaps this discussion should be reopened

It looks like there's another header that needs to be included before this one. Did you include "wx/wx.h" before it? Try finding some sample code with wxSockets and include the same headers. I think this will solve your problem.

Check if you are building both your application a wxwidgets with the same runtime libraries. You see this on the project properties window. For example if you build wxwidgets with Debug multithreaded you mus also build your application with Debug multithreaded.

Have you ever used a thread? If not it is good to read some tutorials about threads to get a little more familiarized with what it can and cant do. the PATH variable is correct because I can compile my wx projects using wx-config, the problem is that I am going to try multiple builds before choosing for one, so I didnt do make install. That means that the wx-config is not on usr/bin, and i think the make file of databaselayer looks for it on th...
