MSW: Office 2003, Visual Studio 2003 menus

Hello, I'm not a WIN32 API expert, so I have a question. How do the Office 2003, Visual Studio 2003 applications draw their menus (with a style different than the standard WIN XP style)? Is there some WIN32 API call paramenter that specifies the look-and-feel or the menus are own-drawn by the applic...

Re: wxWidgets starter tutorial

I've read some discussions about "hard to start" and so on... http://www.web-play-3d.de/wxinstallguide/ I think it's 1m big Post corrections or critics here!! It's very well designed, but... I think you should skip the browse-download-install part (at the beginning, I though it was a Firefox-tutori...

wxPaintDC dc( this ); wxBitmap background_bmp = GetBitmapResource(wxT("main_1.png")); if (background_bmp.Ok()) dc.DrawBitmap(background_bmp, 0, 0, FALSE); I don't know the reason for the continous wxPaintEvent, but... GetBitmapResource() loads the bitmap every time from the disk? If it is so, this ...

This piece of code can nicely be used in home-made parsers... although there is something I don't quite understand. Why use 10 pointers to wxStrings as argument, instead of just passing a reference to a (resisable) wxArrayString - which extends the maximum number of extractable tokens from 10 to th...

Embedding PNG images into executables

If someone is interested, I have just published on wxWidgets Wiki some instructions for embedding PNG graphics into executables.

Re: equivalent to pythons string.join ?

The title says it all. Does wxWidgets or C++ have an equivalent function to join an array of strings together with a delimiter? No, there is not an embedded equivalent. But is really simple anyway: wxString strings[12]; // ... initialize strings wxString out; for (int i = 0; i < 12; ++i) { if (i > ...

Re: wxTextCtrl handling text change by user/program differen

I'm using a wxTextCtrl and want to call a function every time the user changes the text. This is easily done with EVT_TEXT. The problem is that EVT_TEXT is also triggered when the text value ist changed with wxTextCtrl::SetValue(). Is there an easy and elegant way to make the program know if the te...

Re: wxLocale

(So I'm assuming wxMSW) How do you set the locale to fr_FR ? You should do something like: class MyApp: public wxApp { DECLARE_CLASS(MyApp) DECLARE_EVENT_TABLE() public: MyApp(); virtual bool OnInit(); virtual int OnExit(); private: wxLocale m_locale; }; // ... bool MyApp::OnInit() { // ... m_locale...

Please post a snippet of the code, because the question is somewhat generic.

Re: wxLocale

Does my system need to support fr_FR locale to be able to use french language ? wxWidget is complaining "Cannot set locale to 'fr_FR'" when I switch to french. But i've translated all the strings to french and put them in the right places. I'm not using any libc time or printf functions. Is there a...

wxFourSplitter

I wonder if some sort of FourSplitter widget is going to be integrated into the wxWidgets core...

Something like the FX4Splitter found in the Fox Toolkit.

I'm currently using a custom widget (wxQuadSplitWindow), found on the net a lot of time ago.

Ciao Stefania, the main problem is that your code is "Pascal-like", where users usually write something like: repeat mumble_mumble; until keypressed; This code is also know as "cpu killer"... If I understand correctly your code, there is one button that start some processing and you want to inform t...

Re: How does this Access violation happen?

Hi there: I'm getting start with wxWidgets and I got some problems with the wxApp's quit. In the doc of wxWidget 2.6.1 it said that if the application exits before wxWidgets cleans up its internal structures, wxApp::OnExit() should be used. The access violation happens because your code is.... righ...
