I figured it out...I had a radiobox with Yes and No buttons as controls on the dialog box...they were defined as "&Yes|&No" so when I clicked on ALT+N the focus went to the radiobox. I didn't notice it, I just saw that my text box didn't have the focus anymore but didn't know where it went. Thank yo...

There is no menubar. There is an application class that calls a dialog box. The dialog box contains a number of buttons that the user presses to implement various functions. One of these buttons brings up another dialog box that contains a text control that is defined using the code I previously sub...

I am writing an application that I want to create some short cuts for text entry of Spanish characters that are not on the standard English keyboard (for instance all of the vowels A,E,I,O,U and the character N have accent marks above the character)...all these characters can be typed by pressing th...

wxStatusBar text disappears when selecting menu item

I have a three field status bar on my application. I noticed that when I hover the mouse over menu items or a row of small tool bar icons the text in the first field seems to toggle on and off and sometimes disappears. When I select from the menu, the text does disappear. Anybody experience this bef...

wxString and communicating over a socket

I have 2 Unicode applications (client and server). I'm basically trying to figure out how to get a c character string into a wxString on the server side after it is passed by the client to the server. On the Client side I have something like this: #define REGISTER_REQ 1 // request command sent to se...

I figured out a work-around...not even sure why this works, but it does. Basically, in my code I create the toolbar, status bar and client area in the CreateControls method...then later, when the user pushes a button on the toolbar, in the event processing I want to switch the client area from one p...

Still doesn't work

I tried to paste the screenshot right into the post but was unable to do it - I don't know why. That is why I added the attachment. I tried your suggestion using "this" as the argument, but it made no difference.

Problems with placement of wxPanel inside wxFrame

As the attachment shows, I am trying to place a wxPanel inside a wxFrame, but it doesn't line up right. The panel is kinda shoved under the toolbar as you can see a gutter like area between the panel and the frame on the right and bottom. Has anyone seen this before? How do you fix?

Custom control calling event handler of it's parent

I'm not clear on message processing outside of the class. Here is what I am trying to do... I have a class 'AlphaPanel' derrived from wxPanel. It contains a pointer to a custom class CheckListBox based on wxCheckListBox with OnCreate overridden. Further, CheckListBox has wxEVT_COMMAND_LISTBOX_SELECT...

Initialize wxCheckListBox with items already checked?

How do you create a wxCheckListBox control with some of the list items checked by default. I would think this is documented somewhere but cannot find it. I would think you add character to the list of strings to indicate a checkmark similar to how you indicate a shortcut key with an ampersand...eg.....
