Returning values from non-custom events

Hello, to test my events properly I want tor eturn values from the event functions. Is the only way to do this to create custom events with return values? Say EVT_SOCKET(SERVER_ID, Class::OnEvent) doesn't expect a value to be returned, but making a custom even seems like overkill. Is there another w...

This is weird, GetSize and GetTitle return nothing to my test rig, but they are assigning correctly in the proggie itself. Hmm. Stranger is that GetId and GetDefaultScreenPosition do work and they're both from WxWindow. :evil:

Thanks, yeah I tried that before, still the same. Though it was a good job you reminded me to try it again as I changed the code a bit. But still, blank response, as is GetLabel(). Even if I run SetTitle() first, then GetTitle() I get the same. Odd. I'm using 2.8.4 so presumably it should work. Ah w...

wxTopLevelWindow::GetTitle()

I am trying to do something really trivial and test my frame title is correct. However I always get "" returned instead of the title. GetParent() and GetId() work fine, but GetTitle() won't, I have tried various things but must be doing/missing something silly. Here is the code: //#pragma once // Fo...

Hi jb_coder, Thanks for the post. Sorry I missed it for a while, I actually got another answer from the usenet group. Basically they pointed me to the CPPUnit tests on subversion so I set it up like that and it works nicely. However having a look at your tests was helpful, also I might look at the M...

Doh, sorry. Wasn't paying attention to the derived bit. Yeah, I know how inheritance works. I knew it would be in a superclass somewhere. It would be nice for the wxwidgets docs to show a heirarchy tree of classes like javadocs. Nicer if I actually read what was there :oops:

Thanks,

Zobbo.

Getting attributes back from wxFrame

Hello,

Is there an easy way to check the ID, title, size etc. of the wxFrame created with the derived constructor? I know I could just assign them to member variables of my derived class and check them, but is there a way I can get those details back from wxFrame itself?

Thanks,

Zobbo

Using wxGetApp()

Hello, I am trying to run a test on my wxWidgets program uisng cxxTest under VS2005. However, I'm not entirely sure how I should call my Application class (that contains OnInit()) from cxxTest. The application itself runs fine on its own. Basically I use my cxxtest header file DECLARE_APP(Applicatio...

Brilliant, thanks. I knew it was something silly. I took the latter option, just due to laziness, but using the wxString constructor looks like a more sensible way to do it when I'm doing something proper.

Thanks a lot,

Noob buffer problem

Hello, having a buffer initialisation problem. using the following code: void MyFrame::Test3(wxSocketBase *sock) { char len = NULL;// = NULL; char *buf7 = NULL;// = NULL; wxString s; len = 8; buf7 = new char[len]; m_text->AppendText(_("Test 3 begins\n")); // This test is similar to the first one, bu...

Thanks Tan. I tried Cleaning the project and trying with Mtd but I got the same link error. Well then you have built wwxbase28.lib and wxbase28_net.lib with different options. There are two linkage options: 1) CRT linkage mode (MT[d] / MD[d]) and 2) wx libs type (static(SHARED=0)/dynamic(SHARED=1))...

Thanks Tan. I tried Cleaning the project and trying with Mtd but I got the same link error. The code I'm trying to compile is (Server.cpp from socket example): // For compilers that support precompilation, includes "wx/wx.h". #include "wx/wxprec.h" #ifdef __BORLANDC__ # pragma hdrstop #endif // for ...

You guessed it, Linker error

Hi, I'm trying to set up WxWidgets 2.8.4 for VC+ 2005 Express. All worked fine, I managed to run minimal outside the sample project (i.e. I copied and pasted the code and then set up my own project with libs etc. to see if it would work). I tried the same for the socket example (just copied server.c...
