Maybe this will help: http://www.troubleshooters.com/linux/prepostpath.htm. If you set the PATH in the console then it will naturally disappear when you terminate the console.

AFAIK, that's not possible. I guess you need to hide the native title bar and draw a custom one.

I've never used wxGrid but I found wxGrid::BeginBatch and wxGrid::EndPatch from the docs. Maybe wrapping your inserts between them could speedup the process?
