Visual C++ 2005 won't load images from file

I'm really getting annoyed with this problem. I'm using Visual C++ 2005 Express. Every time I try to load an icon or bitmap from a file, it won't allow it. It keeps telling me to check my resources. It seems as if it will only accept embedded media without allowing the loading of my media from the h...

Yes, change klp.ico to your file name. Those are the only 2 lines in my .rc file. In Visual C++, I believe I just right-clicked on the project in the browser and did an "Add existing ..." Thanks! You're awesome. I didn't realize I could add an existing item and it would accept an rc file. I created...

Ok, I'll try that. But I don't have any experience with rc files, so I have a couple of questions for you. Where you entered klp.ico, should I substitute the name of the file I want to use, or does it need to say klp.ico? Can I make the rc file with only those two lines, or does it need to have more...

Thank you for your quick reply. How do you create your rc file? Are you using the Express version or the Pro version? In my express version I can't edit or create rc files.

Maybe I can do this with a third party resource editor.

Problems setting an app icon

I am using Visual C++ 2005 Express which doesn't allow resource editing. When I create a wxWidgets project, it never even creates a rc or res file to edit. So I am trying to use the SetIcon function on my frame and the compiler never gives any errors, but it also never shows an icon in my title bar ...

for a button down or up event: STEP 1 - put a button event in the event table: BEGIN_EVENT_TABLE(MyFrame, wxFrame) EVT_BUTTON(BUTTON_ID, MyFrame::ClickMethod) END_EVENT_TABLE() this sets a button's ID in the event table with a method for when it is clicked (which is not what you want) STEP 2 - creat...

Tierra, I already marked HeReSY's post as Accepted, and I was going to mark your post as Assisted, but that option is no longer available. I'm sorry, I don't have much experience with this forum yet. If there is still a way for me to give you credit, please let me know.

Thank you for your help.

Thank you, that did the trick. My problem was that I was trying to create a wxWindow from the parent, and I needed to make a wxFrame.

Thanks again!

You have to use in all connect functions the same id as your button id. wxButton *button = new wxButton(this, YOUR_ID, _("Label")); button->Connect(YOUR_ID, wxEVT_ENTER_WINDOW, wxCommandEventHandler(MyFrame::OnEnter)); And your function. void MyFrame::OnEnter(wxMouseEvent &event) { // do something....

Thank you for your reply, but I'm still having trouble figuring out the actual code. I have a frame class called MyFrame with a button named btn. In my MyFrame constructor, I put this line: btn->Connect(BTN_ENTER, wxEVT_ENTER_WINDOW, wxCommandEventHandler(MyFrame::OnEnter)); BTN_ENTER is an enumerat...

Help with mouse entering a button

I am very new to wxWidgets. I have spent a lot of time searching for an answer to my problem, to no avail. I understand how to create a wxButton and set up an event with a function that is called when the button is clicked. But I can't figure out how to call different functions for when the mouse cu...

Solution to sporatic Intellisense problems

I am using Microsoft Visual C++ Express 2005. I kept having problems with Intellisense - it worked ok, then if I made a mistake and had to change something in my code, it didn't work correctly anymore. For a while, the only way I could get it to work was to start a new project and start over from sc...
