thanks eco, I am using a GTK2 version and I am already in version 2.5.3 of wxWidget. but I still can't solve the problem. I don't really want ti disable UNICODE and I have update my GTK2 lib to version 2.6.0. Why the Hell doesn't it work :( ?????

Hello guys, I am trying to write an editor, nothing fancy. Just want it to be able to open a text file for now but for some reason my derivate version of the wxTextCtrl don't work. Thanks upCase but pcap can only sniff packets, it can't stop them from propagating to other applications. I want my application to kill the packet once detected. Am I going to have to work with the firewall configuration on my linux system dynamicly?

Hello I think you want to load the Dialog box as a Modaless one so that that yuor main fram can continue executing and just update the dialog with it's progress.

Thanks Cg, it works. Not really sure why it works as I just changed it to use a wxTheadHelper instead of a wxThread and I moved the declaration of my custom events from the thread header file to the main thread cpp file. Anyway it works and work can continue :D

Hello, I am trying to send a custom event from a wxthread object to my GUI. I am using postEvent but this requires an EventHandler class as an input. since my wxthread object doesn't have one, how will I send it to my main GUI class.
