wxDockit and wxWidgets as a static mono lib

Hi, I have some linker issues when using wxDockit with wxWIdgets compiled as a monolithic static lib. If I try to use a monolithic shared one it works... mingw32-g++.exe -LD:\Logiciels\wxWidgets-2.6.2\lib\gcc_lib -L.\wxdockit\lib\gcc_lib -LD:\Logiciels\CodeBlocks\lib -o SmartTester.exe .objs\MsgDock...

wxScript problems

Hi, I have installed wxWidgets-2.6.2 and I am trying to evaluate wxScript. Problem is I got some compilations error. I am using codeBlocks IDE with mingw as compiler under WinXP, I have modified the makefile to only enable python : # If 0 Python won't be used [0,1] USE_PYTHON = 1 # If 0 LUA won't be...

Re: wxDockit, TreeCtrl and events

Finally I have added a page to my notebook and my tree takes all the space. I don't understand everything and in particular what's the use of wxNotebookSizer since it seems I don't need it. SO finally I did this : //wxDockWindow( this, 0, _("Project"), wxPoint( 64, 64 ), wxSize( leftW, clientsize.Ge...

wxDockit, TreeCtrl and events

Hi, I am trying to play with wxWIdgets and wxDockit but I am stuck. I have my mainframe class with inside two wxDockWindow derived class (ProjDockBar and pMsgDockBar) : //MainFrame.h class MainFrame : public wxFrame { wxLayoutManager* pLayoutManager; ProjDockBar* pProjDockBar; MsgDockBar* pMsgDockBa...

wxWidgets 2.6.2 projects and VS8

Hi, I am trying to compile a project using wxWidgets2.6.2 (and wxDockit) and VS 2005. I have compiled wxWidgets as a shared monolithic lib. Before I used to use CodeBlocks and mingw to compile my projects and it worked fine but now with VS I have linker errors : app.obj : error LNK2001: unresolved e...

Re: Possible not to use sizers

The main goal of this piece of code is to allow non-programmers to choose their layout and to add logos and pictures as they wish. So you need to understand that I cannot use sizers I'm not sure what I need to understand. I would be poor design if using sizer could not allow free control location. ...

Possible not to use sizers

Hi, I would like to know if it would be possible not to use sizers (relative pos). I would like to port my work http://www.codeproject.com/library/XuiFramework.asp. To test : 0 - Start GuiBaker 1 - Go to Window->Screen Designer 2 - Dragn Drop one label or rwo 3 - Go Back to Window-Screen Designer 4 ...

What 's lacking in wxWIdgets : a good docking lib

Hi, recently I wanted to use wxWidgets to port an existing application but I gave up because there is no good docking library.Actually I found two : wxDockit and wxIFM. wxDockit works fine but its logic is a bit weird. wxIFM has a good architecture but not easy to compile (no bakefile, no build dire...

Hi Guru, very nice work with wxDev-Cpp I am really impressed. It seems very powerful! It's been a while since I looked for a real good form designer and recently I found wxFormBuilder and now yours. The only thing I miss with wxDev is the possibility to import and export xrc files. Indeed in my job ...

Hi! But I will try. But I cannot help thinking that it's not a natural way of thinking. Do you know for instance if QT has the same approach ? Actually MFC is the only framework I know that doesn't have support for layout machanisms by standard. Qt, Java, etc. all have more or less the same approac...

A common trick I always use for sizer layout is draw it on paper. Then first divide it in sections, using a wxBoxSizer (vertical style). This will give you a few sections. Then with those sections , see what the underlying layout is. I will try this with your ascii art (by the way use a fixed font ...

Newbie that hates sizers philosophy

Hi,

I find wxWidgets is a great framework, classes are well designed but what I really don't understand is sizers.I mean I know that it allows to have the same aspect across all the plateforms and it enables widgets resizing but I really don't like them. A programmer should focus on what is really difficult and not what sizers should be used just to put a $%^&... button for instance.
Anyway coming from MFC world and wanted to use a better toolkit I have chosen wxWIdgets.

I am currently working on an application that needs very often to change its layout so I think xml resource are great in this case.
The problem is I don't know how to put sizers. I read millions of tutorial and it 's always the same, it seems easy for very simple layout but for complex I don't understand.(By the way I am using wxGlade).

What is the sizers hierarchy for the following layout (wxDialog 1024x768)

______________________________
| Static Bitmap |
|_____________________________|

| ______________________ |
| | | |
| | wxHtmlWindow | |
| |_____________________| |
| |
| __ __ |
| | | ________________ | | |
| |_A| |______B ________| |_A| |
|_____________________________|

So there is one main dialog with a banner at the top, in the middle there is a wxHTMLwindow to display some formatted text. Below I have three elements A, B and A. A is a StaticBitmap showing a blinking arrow and B is a transparent label.

Hope this is clear.

wxGLCanvas questions

Hi, I am trying to use the wxGLCanvas widgets. I have started from the sample called cube to understand how it works but now I would like to do some modifications. I am trying to draw a circle but because of the non-square shape of the window, my circle looks like an ellipse. So my question is how t...

Re: Wince mixed application MFC and wxwidgets

First i have check in setup.h and there is a wonderful option called USE MFC maybe I should try ????? I'm sure it was mainly for desktop Windowses. I never heard about using it with WinCE, but I also never heard about using MFS with wxWinCE :-) I think it is worth to check. I will try to deactivate...
