And - as always - you can create empty string using the default constructor:

Code: Select all

wxString empty_str;

Re: how to convert wxULongLong to long ?

Try something like this:

Code: Select all

wxULongLong size = sel_dir.GetTotalSize("E:\\aktuell");
wxString test = size.ToString();
I'm at work and thus cannot test it at this moment. Just check it.

Looks VERY, VERY interesting to me as not a long time ago I've started creating my own serialization library. Are you interested in discussing this subject? One thing I really need is serialization solution existing for C++ and Java. That is I'd like to serialize same date by C++ program and then re...

Looks like my original post posted on General Development forum was deleted. So, to point out my desired feauter for remote method call framework: 1) portable (C++), coupled with wxWidgets, making use of wxSocket, wxThread, and so on. 2) supporting popular wx-data types, like wxString 3) with point-...

There is another small framework for distributed systems:

But it seems it doesn't meet my expectations too. But it's worth to take a look.

I've seen it some time ago. I don't remeber why but I found it doesn't meet my needs. Maybe because it's just CORBA implementation - and as I mention - I have some additional ideas for such a framework (one of them: avoiding a need for a naming service).

Lightweight CORBA-like and portable framework for wx?

Java has RMI and it's quite good, C++ has CORBA - but as far as I know there is no free and PORTABLE Corba implementation with C++ binding. And CORBA is somehow to complicated. What about something similar to RMI designed especially for wxWidgets/C++? The actual post is here: http://forums.wxwidgets...
