Re: wxwidget structure understanding

Ok I think I understood the structure of your demo code now! :D One question though, why using a m_thread_status.GetInteger(); And not just m_thread_status.m_int; Is that because the ThreadStatus class data should be protected by wxCriticalSectionLocker lock(m_cond); everytime we want to get or set ...

Re: wxwidget structure understanding

It sounds like this indeed thanks ! Another thing that is unclear for me, is that for what I understand : IMPLEMENT_APP(MyApp) Will implement the app and call MyApp::OnInit() Where the frame object *frame is defined MyFrame *frame = new MyFrame("Minimal wxWidgets App"); But then after this function,...

Re: wxwidget structure understanding

Thanks for your reply! Yes I could build your minimal and it works great. Now I'll try to implement it in the codeblocks template. Because the wxsmith visual editor looks rather convenient. Anyone has a good knowledge of wxsmith here? There are some things of the wxsmith project syntax that I don't ...

Re: wxwidget structure understanding

Thanks very much !! If I understand correctly the minimal sample is a visual studio project right? In your opinion what is better to use for wxwidgets, VisualStudio or Codeblocks? Being a world-class-newbie I am not sure how to adapt the minimal.cpp you sent me to codeblocks-wxsmith template that th...

Re: Setup nightmare

I finally found the problem (of my first computer). You were right it's a compiler problem. The path in my windows variables (for reference win7 : control panel, system, advanced system settings, environment variable, system variables, path) was "C:\Program Files (x86)\CodeBlocks\MinGW\bin" However ...

Re: wxwidget structure understanding

Thanks for your reply! I get it now. Indeed it has to be a separated thread or the GUI is blocked. It makes sense. I will dig into this. Meanwhile I still have to setup the environment which is still not working unfortunately (cf other post on forum). Perhaps do you have a template of such applicati...

wxwidget structure understanding

Hi there, I'm new to wxwidgets, and I'm trying to port a console project to enable more features, buttons to control some stuff, display database entries and so on. Re: Setup nightmare

I changed the video setting it can now be seen. https://youtu.be/i-XSlk8qByA About the compiler, I just used codeblocks with mingw packaged. How should I check the compiler settings? It's in toolchain executables? About 32bit vs 64bit this computer is 64bit, so is the version of mingw. I'll need to ...

Re: Setup nightmare

Hi, Thanks for your replies. First - don't do a monolithic build of wxWidgets. Second - you C::B project options absolutely has to match the options you build wxWidgets with. Otherwise you will have a lot of issues. 1- Not sure why there is this monolithic option if it should not be used..? Maybe it...

Setup nightmare

Hey guys, I'm a almost total newbie on codeblocks, and total newbie on wxWidgets. I've struggled for days to setup wxWidgets and it's driving me crazy. I first tried the 3.1.2 version but the build kept getting errors. Then I started to try with 3.0.4 and could build following this guide : https://w...
