Hi Jorg,
yes, I tried with empty paint routine, that too is slow...

As I mentioned earlier, we can feel the difference in the drawing samples in 2.6.3 and 2.8.4.

So should I make a bug report?

Lloyd

Painting slow?

Hi, I am using wxGtk 2.8.4 and previousy using 2.6.3. In 2.6.3 the painting was not slow and the same program is slow in 2.8.4. So I tried buffered paint DC as well, but that too is slow. I am saying slow in the sense, when I scroll up and down very very frequently, the window is not able to cop wit...

Hi Ryan,
Would it work on wxGtk too? From where do you get it? What are all the prerequisites? Are you talking about wxWebkit?

Thank you very much,
Lloyd

A signature is just the header of each file. The header contains the meta information (type of file, length, timestamps ..) of the file. I dont know whether there is any better way to solve this. You may have to find it :) http://www.google.co.in/search?hl=en&q=file+signature+database&btnG=Search&me...

I think it is not possible by using wxWidgets. Because wxWidgets has only these functions supporting it. wxMimeTypesManager::GetFileTypeFromExtension() wxMimeTypesManager::GetFileTypeFromMimeType() So you must have either mime type or extension. I am on gnome environment, and it finds the filetype b...

Now I compiled the code with wxGtk2.8.4. But the painting is very very slow compared to 2.6.3!! What could be the reason? Thanks, Ll...

Thats the same error which I too get in Linux. What I feel is to use our own image list with necessary icons and load them based on the filetype than trying to load the native ones (on Linux). I dont know any other solution for this.

If you are on Linux it is diffiicult to get the native icons associated with a file type There is discussions about this on wx mailing list. If you search you can find it... I am also working on Linux, what I am planning to do is to keep an icon list myself and use it appropriately based on the fil...

First of all please use code tags to display code. delete pFileType; Why are you deleting it? It is not the memory allocated by you, and it is a global object. If you delete it, wouldn't it cause seg fault? If you are on Linux it is diffiicult to get the native icons associated with a file type. But...

why change it I worry In future it may cause some problems The panel I was talking about is a different issue. As I said, every frame should have a panel inside it instead of a sizer. That panel might be useful in other ways, but mostly it's there to prevent those occasional bugs, and to give the f...
